6 June Tomsk

Original plan was to travel to Kemerovo from Biysk or Barnaul, but as we decided to go to Novosibirsk to resolve the car issue, we came closer to Tomsk. Visiting Tomsk instead of Kemerovo was an easy decision and the trip was well worth it.

Tomsk is a student city with a rich history of over 400 years. It has a special vibe and made us feel young as we were walking among students through university campus and past impressive buildings of several universities. There are quite a few international students here: we saw/heard Chinese, students from Africa. When in Kosh-Agach, we actually met a group of French guys who were finishing their exchange year in Tomsk. Our taxi driver said that Tomsk is a city of potential. It is true, it still has quite some work to do to improve their central embankment and restore historic wooden houses. All in all, the city is well worth a visit.
