June 16 Kyzyl to Ergaki via Aldyn-Bulak

To benefit from the hotel’s facilities to the fullest, we started our day with another visit to the swimming pool, hammam and sauna and then went to the Aldyn-Bulak tourist complex on Yenisei River.

As we left Kyzyl in the Western direction, we saw beautiful hills, mountains and the river. We went up a hill to take some photos and then continued to Aldyn-Bulak, where we had traditional Tuvan food for lunch: fried lamb and flat bread. very tasty, but very fatty and heavy, so we had to add some vegetables to it. The restaurant was playing throat-singing music, which I quite liked, but Pablo was not very convinced with. As we were having lunch, we heard a lot of noise coming from outside. This was a wedding. Apparently, this is a very popular spot for weddings - they don’t even have to stay here - they just come here, party outside, make noise and leave rubbish. We counted 3 weddings when we were there and saw at least two arriving after we had left. Alcohol consumption already started, so we wanted to get out of there quick. After Aldyn-Bulak, we continued the road a little bit more to see some more of the great views and then turned back to continue to the Ergaki national park in the mountains in the Krasnoyarsk Krai. As we were driving, the weather changed from sun to dark clouds and rain, but the views were equally impressive. As we left Tuva, we found ourselves again to the taiga-covered mountains, which we are planning to visit over the next couple of days. We were lucky to find lodging as we hadn’t book it, but it is not yet a full tourist season, so rooms were available.
